The Local Government Legal Society Trust Ltd, provides sponsorship and grants towards the fees of solicitors and trainees undertaking training courses to enhance their skills and broaden their experiences relevant to an applicant’s local government work.
Funding is available to support a range of professional qualifications and learning opportunities, including the Local Government Diploma, the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), and courses or conferences organised by recognised training providers including, for example, LLG, the Law Society and SOLACE. Eligible applicants may receive up to 75% of their fees. The Trust is committed to widening access to professional development and particularly welcome and encourage applications from care leavers.
Applying for training funding: Various LLG training courses and conferences including the annual LLG Spring Conference may be eligible for funding. All applications for funding will need to be supported by downloading and completing the Funding Application Form and emailing to bev.cullen@hotmail.co.uk
The Trust Board is made up of solicitors who currently work in local government or have recently retired having substantial experience of working in local government.
