Lawyers in Local Government (LLG) and LLG Legal Training Privacy Statement

Where you provide your information on this website you are giving your data to LLG and our events subsidiary LLG Legal Training. We jointly take decisions on how we control, process and protect your data. We comply with all relevant legislation regarding the protection, storage and use of your data. We have set out explicitly how we use your data below.

After you have been registered for three years, we will get in touch to confirm that you are still happy to remain registered and receive the information below. At that point in time if we do not hear from you we will cease all communications to you.

Data you provide when you register as a member

We will only use the data you provide in the registration process for the purposes of administering your membership. In registering as a new member on the website you are consenting to receive communications regarding your membership as outlined below, however if you ever wish to change or stop the way we use your data you can contact us directly at any time. We will never sell your data, use your data for profiling, automated decision making, or targeting or give access to your data to any other organisations for marketing or any other purposes than specific member benefits you have requested.

Specifically, we will use your member registration information to send you:

1.The weekly bulletin (for full members)

2.Information regarding Weekend School and the Governance Conference

3.Notices of any new member benefits that are launched e.g. bursaries or schemes

4.Notices regarding the annual AGM

We will also use your data to

  • Check your eligibility for member benefits as you seek to take advantage of them
  • Communicate with you for the purposes of administering your membership, for example to send you a welcome email, or annual reminders when membership subscriptions are due if you are an individual member or the local authority contact for a membership.

If you specifically register within the website additionally to join an SAA or Branch then you will receive communications specific to that Branch or SAA.

We will only ever share data with a third party where you have specifically opted into a membership benefit that is administered by a third party, for example the MO Handbook hosted by Thompson Reuters or the MO Defence Scheme which is run by an external third party.

Data you provide when you sign up for the LLG Legal Training mailing list

We only send emails regarding the LLG Legal Training programme of courses and training for public sector lawyers to individuals who have specifically opted in to receive them and have highlighted their preferences regarding topics. If you would like to opt in to receive information on training and courses in areas of specific interest to you, you can do so via this link.

If at any time at all you would like to contact us to make a change to how we use your data, to request that we no longer use your data or to make any requests regarding your data then please contact: membership@llg.org.uk Verification, updating or amendment of personal data takes place within a week of the request however changes may take up to 28 days to take force across all of our systems.

If you would like to make a subject access request or exercise any of your rights under GDPR such as the right to be forgotten please get in touch with membership@llg.org.uk.

Cookies

Please note we use cookies only where it is strictly necessary to support the functionality of the site – for example to maintain a log in state so you don't have to keep logging back in and remembering your details, and to retain your username in the log in box.

We never use cookies for anything that is not core to the website working. We do not use cookies for analytics, advertising or personalisation.
