LLG is excited to announce an exclusive one-day free event for LLG Member Monitoring Officers. The event will take place 17 March 2025 at Browne Jacobson in London.

In May 2022, Browne Jacobson became the first law firm to partner with O Shaped, a purpose-driven organisation founded by Dan Kayne, former General Counsel at Network Rail. The O Shaped mission is to improve the legal profession by putting people first and fostering deeper, more collaborative client centricity throughout the sector.

What is O Shaped?  Through exploration of 5 mindsets, Openness, Originality, Optimism, taking Opportunities and taking Ownership, O Shaped encourages deeper, more collaborative relationships between professionals and clients.  The approach of greater and wider collaboration of individuals and teams drives the importance of core human skills such as trust, stakeholder management and value which apply across all roles and organisations and is particularly relevant to the Monitoring Officer role.

What does O Shaped mean for Monitoring Officers?  Through the O Shaped approach, a Monitoring Officer's skilled and busy team can create increasing value to the team, department and local authority.  Claire Stripp, Browne Jacobson and co-speaker said 'We have found within our firm that the O Shaped mindset really provides a framework to think differently about client's challenges and our role in collaborating with them to find solutions.  This goes far beyond technical legal skills and traditional added value.'

Why attend? This O Shaped session provides an opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals, gain fresh insights, and be inspired to think and act differently in your role as a Monitoring Officer. It's an opportunity to be at the forefront of change, driving forward not just your personal development but also the success and integrity of your authority.

What will the day include?

  • Exploring the O Shaped mindset:  A look at the core principles of the O Shaped mindset and how this can assist in building a holistic, adaptable and innovative approach to the challenges and opportunities within the legal sector and beyond.
  • Building Relationships – Trust and ethical decision making: Exploration of the foundations of building strong, trust-based relationships.  Insights and tools to develop your professional interactions and explore the benefit of embedding the O Shaped mindset in your own in-house teams
  • Creating Value – The Golden Triangle: A look at how strengthening relationships within the Golden Triangle can enable good ethical governance and prevent failure.
  • Creating Value – Challenges, success and opportunities: A dynamic discussion around the challenges and successes faced by Monitoring Officers, leadership teams and senior management and an opportunity to share experiences, learn from peers, and identify emerging opportunities for growth and innovation.

Please note that this event is limited to 20 places in total, you must be part of the LLG annual Membership, and the day will take place at the offices of Browne Jacobson in London.
