LLG are excited to share that our corporate partners, Capsticks' will be running a session on Inquests and their dilemmas, on Wednesday 25th September.

Running from 12-1pm, this interactive session will go through a case study and also cover:

  • Identifying and addressing risk which could give rise to a prevention of future deaths report
  • Navigating grievances and disciplinary / performance concerns during the inquest process
  • Social media coverage and covert recordings
  • Record keeping, allegations of fabrication of medical record entries and record redactions.
  • Key considerations for a subsequent claim.

Naomi McMaster, Partner & Head of Health and Justice

Naomi has extensive experience of representing police forces, public authorities, private custodial service operators, private probation service providers, healthcare providers and care homes on Article 2 inquests and related civil claims. 

She has previously worked in-house within both a large police force and a global insurance company and has therefore been able to develop a detailed understanding of clients' requirements and objectives.

Naomi specialises in Article 2 inquests, civil claims arising out of inquests and public inquiries. 

Andrew Latham, Partner

Andrew has a wide range of experience in information law work, including successfully representing clients in the High Court and County Court in confidentiality related issues; in the Tribunals on Freedom of Information Act matters; and before the Information Commissioner on data protection issues including helping clients manage proposed enforcement action and information rights complaints.

Andrew is an expert on public law in the healthcare context, and in particular on the powers and duties of NHS bodies and ensuring lawful decision making. He also provides advice on a wide range of broader advisory and risk issues, including mental health and mental capacity law, drugs and pharmaceuticals, and complaints management. He also works with clients on Court of Protection matters, responses to threatened judicial reviews, and supports clients out-of-hours as part of our emergency advice service. 

Chloe Edwards, Legal Director

Chloe is a Legal Director in the employment and pensions team and specialises in advising a range of health and social care clients in relation to complex employment tribunals and internal employee relations processes. Chloe has worked as a healthcare lawyer throughout her career. She has extensive knowledge of the issues affecting the sector and experience advising NHS organisations on a wide range of employment issues.

Chloe has particular expertise in supporting her clients in defending employment tribunal claims, in particular in relation to whistle blowing and discrimination. Chloe works closely with HR teams in managing complex internal investigations and hearings, including in relation to managing medical practitioners under the MHPS

Charlotte Millar, Partner

Charlotte is a partner in the claims team and specialises in clinical negligence claims acting for NHS Trusts, other healthcare organisations, and NHS Resolution. Charlotte also handles inquests for NHS Trusts and emergency services.

Charlotte works on clinical negligence claims across the full range of medical specialities, and has particular experience in dealing with fatal, spinal injury and birth injury cases. Charlotte also specialises in high profile and complex inquests and inquiries.
