15 November 2024  |  Free

LLG is pleased to share that we will be hosting the Welsh Lawyers Conference on Friday, November 15th. This is a free event for all Welsh Members, taking place at the newly refurbished Law Society Building in Cardiff.

On the day we will be joined by speakers from Browne Jacobson and Civitas, who will be covering various areas of public law in Wales. We will also have a helpful session on instructing external counsel, dos and don’ts, and a Q&A.

This is an excellent opportunity to visit the Law Society Building, as well as network with fellow local government colleagues and those in private practice.

Below is the Agenda for the day

10:30               Open doors

11:00               Public Law in Wales (Civitas)

11:45               Coffee Break

12:00               Public Law in Wales (Browne Jacobson)

13:00               Lunch

13.45               The Changing Face of Local Government (Browne Jacobson)

14:30               Instructing External Counsel (Civitas & Browne Jacobson)

15:30               Q&A

16:00               Networking

We recommend booking as soon as possible, as spaces are limited & we hope to see as many of you on the day.

Owain Rhys James, Civitas

Owain specialises in commercial and construction; chancery, property and trusts; public law; and employment. He is ranked across all of his core practice areas in the directories. He often acts in cases which involve an overlap between those areas.

He appears at all levels up to and including the Court of Appeal. He has been instructed post-trial in appeals in the County Court and the Employment Appeals Tribunal.

Peter Ware, Browne Jacobson

Peter’s extensive experience also means that he can advise clients on a variety of commercial matters for both government and supplier-to-government clients in particular public to public and public to private joint ventures.

Prior to joining Browne Jacobson, Peter was a special projects adviser for Nottinghamshire County Council – meaning he really understands the pressures faced by in-house counsel when leading major projects.

Peter is dedicated to helping clients achieve their Net Zero aims. Peter was instrumental in supporting the Midlands Engine in developing their 10-point plan for Green Growth. Peter continues to champion their work by working with businesses, public bodies, academia and the third sector to achieve genuine change through innovation and growth.
