Following on from the successful judicial review of the exit payment cap, the government introduced guidance around the making of special severance payments earlier this year. The government’s view remains that Special Severance Payments do not usually represent value for money and should only be considered in exceptional circumstances. But what does that mean in practice?

Sarah Lamont & Melanie Carter from Bevan Brittan will explain the latest guidance and give hints and tips with respect to ensuring any payments are appropriate, compliant, well evidenced and documented. She will clarify the disclosure and reporting requirements, and detail specific examples to demonstrate the opportunities and the pitfalls.
