LLG are seeking a new Regional Director for Wales to replace the outgoing Director.
If you have the strategic vision to lead the company at pace whilst applying creative vision to the provision of membership services; this role will provide a stimulating, rewarding and career enhancing opportunity placing you in direct contact with key stakeholders and corporate partners.
You must live or work within Wales to be eligible to apply for this position.

The Role of the Regional Director will be: -
The Regional Director position will commence from the AGM on 29th April 2026 and run for a term of four-years.
The role is not remunerated, but expenses will be paid in line with the company’s expense policy for directors. Paid for attendance at the LLG Spring Conference and LLG Governance Conference is provided for this position (including reasonable travel and accommodation).
With these factors in mind, should you wish to be considered for the position of Welsh Regional Director, please set out in no more than two sides of A4 a written application demonstrating, with examples where possible, the following:
Appointment
Appointment is by way of majority Welsh membership vote. Given the position is currently vacant, the successful candidate might be asked to step into the role in an interim basis prior to formal appointment at the AGM.
PLEASE PROVIDE A PHOTOGRAPH TOGETHER WITH A STATEMENT WHICH WILL BE RELASED TO THE MEMBERSHIP TO ENABLE THEM TO CAST THEIR VOTE.
Criteria
1.Must be a full member of Lawyers in Local Government
2.Must be currently actively working within Local Government
3.Must be capable of holding a director position in England and Wales under company law
4.Must have some understanding of the work of LLG and its aims and objectives
5.Should have some understanding of the current challenges facing local government lawyers
6.Strong interpersonal skills and leadership qualities

2nd March 2026 Candidates notified of outcome and elections launched to Welsh Members
16th March 2026 Elections closed.
18th March 2026 Applicants notified of results.
7th April 2026 Notice of AGM with Special Resolution AGM
29th April 2026 AGM and appointment.

Board meetings are held bi-monthly and are provided on a hybrid basis with some fully remote. These normally take place on a Friday.
There are two hybrid conferences per year (Spring and Governance Conference). You should be willing to communicate by email or teams/zoom occasionally inbetween meetings. LLG recommends you discuss this position with your line manager due to the need to attend meetings on occasion during office hours.
