Hi Everyone
I’d like to start this week by wishing all our members who are involved with the planning and delivery of elections well in their work. Rather than the certainty of knowing that we have elections on 7 May it’s been a convoluted story this year for many working in two tier areas - with many plot twists and much uncertainty. It’s very difficult to plan for elections which you are told may well be postponed. From speaking to colleagues many continued with their planning in the face of uncertainty, which proved to be the right thing to do. It really highlights the importance of the work we all do to uphold democracy.
On another democracy related topic. I’m pleased to say that we have had a lot of interest in people wanting to join the LLG board. That’s great to see. We will be writing to members about their voting options in early March. I would strongly encourage members to vote in the elections – we are YOUR board and we do our best for you – it’s important that you are represented by people chosen by the membership.
Please do vote!
The LLG Board is meeting today to discuss the outcomes of the EDI meetings, an AMO update as well as the organisation’s finance and subscription model – which will need to be overhauled in response to local government reorganisation. We are also looking at how we provide consultancy and a review of articles of association. It’s certainly a packed agenda.
This month has seen LLG support members by providing support on how to respond to the Mazur judgment. We now wait for the decision.
That’s all for now.
Paul
