LLG are delighted to announce the appointment of Nicholas Ong-Seng as our new Chair of the LLG Board.

Nick brings a wealth of chairing experience and leadership across both public and private sectors, with a distinguished career spanning governance, risk management, audit, regulatory compliance, and transformational change. His current roles include:

  • Chair of the Ethics Committee at Moore Global, where he leads global standards across 260 member firms.
  • Vice Chair of the CGMA Examination Board at the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, overseeing quality and relevance in global accounting standards.
  • Chair of the Quality Assurance Scheme Committee at the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, promoting professionalism and ethical standards worldwide.

Nick has also served as Global Head of Governance, Risk and Assurance at Amazon, where he led international compliance and governance across Amazon’s regulated entities and global operations.

His previous executive roles include:

  • Group Chief Risk Officer at Haines Watts
  • International Director of Risk & Compliance at DLA Piper
  • Leadership positions at Bear Stearns, J.P. Morgan, the London Metal Exchange, and the Financial Services Authority (FSA)

Nick has also chaired and served on numerous industry boards and committees, including the UK Investment Banking Operational Risk Industry Group and the Federation of European Securities Exchanges.

LLG are delighted that Nick’s exceptional background and strategic insight will be invaluable to guiding LLG’s continued commitment to excellence in governance and leadership.

Nick said “I am truly honoured to have been appointed as the first Non-Executive Chair of the LLG Board.  Given the critical importance of legal and governance officers working within local authorities, particularly during this period of unprecedented change with the onset of devolution and local government reorganisation, I welcome the opportunity to work together with the LLG Board and Executive team to deliver for all of our members and ensure that the interests of legal and governance practitioners continue to be fully represented."

Nick’s appointment comes following the LLG Governance Review 2024 where it was identified that an independent Chair on the Board of LLG would bring additional governance improvements and enable the President to concentrate on the company’s strategy without the additional requirement to facilitate meetings.
