LLG Awards 2025 Shortlisting Nominees have been Announced!

As we draw closer to the annual LLG Awards ceremony, taking place at our Spring Conference in Bristol on Friday 06 June 2025, excitement and anticipation is growing.

The LLG Awards honour and recognises colleagues, teams and individuals who have displayed their dedication, determination, innovation and expertise in their field of local government. This event provides the perfect setting to celebrate with your colleagues and with six exciting categories, we are delighted to announce that our judging panels have taken place. Please see below the shortlist of nominees.

The award categories for 2025 and shortlisted nominees are as follows:

Junior Lawyer of the Year

The shortlisted candidates are:

1) Charlotte Smith - North West Leicestershire District Council

2) Sabina Cherevichenko - Brighton & Hove City Council

3) Miranda Forth - Warwickshire County Council

4) Susan Desfontaines - West Northamptonshire Council

 

Legal Team of the Year

The shortlisted candidates are:

1) Commercial Property - City of Wolverhampton

2) St Helens Council – Legal Services Team - St Helens Borough Council

3) Warwickshire Legal Services - Warwickshire County Council

4) One Legal - Shared Legal Service for: Cheltenham Borough Council, Gloucester City Council, Stroud District Council, Tewkesbury Borough Council.

5) West Midlands Combined Authority Legal Team - West Midlands Combined Authority

6) Joint Legal Team - Reading Borough Council

 

Legal Professional of the Year

The shortlisted candidates are:

1) Chris Simmonds - City of Wolverhampton

2) Jeanette Thompson - North Herts Council

3) Mark Trillo - High Peak Borough Council and Staffordshire Moorlands District Council 

 

Excellence in Training Award

The shortlisted candidates are:

1) HB Public Law - HB Public Law, London Borough of Harrow

2) Kieran Stockley (she/her) - West Midlands Combined Authority

3) Angela Baldwin & Jane Lakin - Derbyshire County Council

4) Buckinghamshire Council Heads of Legal Services - Buckinghamshire Council

5) Stockport Council Legal Team - Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council

 

Suki Binjal Rising Star Award

The shortlisted candidates are:

1) Guy Darvill - Warwickshire County Council

2) Ifan Aslam - Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council

3) Nicki Agalamanyi - West Northamptonshire Council

 

Significant Contribution to Local Government Law and Practice

The shortlisted candidates are:

1) Geoff Wild - Adur District and Worthing Borough Councils

2) Peter Endall - Warwickshire County Council

3) Lindsey Marks - Reading Borough Council

4) GM Academy Team: Rebecca Maddison, Gillian Duckworth, Michael O’Connor, Russ Glennon, Iain Reid, Heather Rogerson - Greater Manchester Combined Authorities
