LLG Energy and Environment Conference 2022 - Free Places

LLG are pleased to offer 10 free places on our upcoming Energy and Environment Conference on 21 October 2022.

What does an Energy Conference have to do with Lawyers in Local Government I hear you say? Well, to put it simply, climate change is the biggest problem you all face right now, in your councils and your communities. Authorities have declared climate emergencies, and are committed to net zero, yet decisions are made day in, day out which fail to take account of the climate emergency status. It’s easy to deal with the small stuff, the day to day, even projects, as that is where we feel comfortable.

Where do you start with a problem as big and as insurmountable as an energy crisis? We believe lawyers are leaders, are innovators, and are the conscience of the council. You can share best practice, spark ideas, sow seeds of ideas that others in your authorities may grasp. But first, you need to raise your own awareness and understanding. Come listen to other lawyers talking about their relevant experience in this area and think about whether you could mirror that in your authority. Let’s share knowledge, avoid reinventing the wheel, and talk. A problem shared is a problem halved. And problems come no bigger than this.
