LLG ANNOUNCE APPOINTMENTS TO NEW MO DEFENCE PANEL

 

LLG are delighted to announce the appointment of Anthony Collins, VWV and Weightmans to the LLG MO Defence Panel.

LLG welcome all three firms to the Panel who will be able to utilise their vast experience in local government law and practice to support our member monitoring officers and their deputies.

Rachel McKoy, President of LLG said “It is increasingly important when we see evidence from public interest reports and listen to our own members that the vital position of monitoring officers in carrying out their role is protected and supported. The experience and expertise brought by our new Panel members will be invaluable in ensuring that monitoring officers do not suffer detriment when upholding governance and the rule of law”.

Allison Cook, partner at VWV said "We are delighted by our selection to the LLG Monitoring Officer Defence Scheme. Our appointment recognises our experience in Local Government and our commitment to this sector. Our team are looking forward to collaborating with LLG and its members, offering valuable guidance and assistance to Monitoring Officers when they need it most".

Simon Goacher, Partner at Weightmans said “We are delighted to have been appointed by LLG for this important service for Monitoring Officers.  The role of the Monitoring Officer is crucial to the delivery effective governance of local authorities.  It is essential that Monitoring Officers are able to address challenging issues and are supported and protected when raising concerns.  We look forward to continuing to work with LLG on this service and are very pleased that our expertise in the areas of local authority governance and employment will be utilised to provide this assistance when required.”

Matthew Gregson, Partner at Anthony Collins said “We are delighted to have been appointed to the LLG’s Monitoring Officers Defence Scheme Panel. Monitoring Officers perform such important work in local authorities, in what can be a very lonely role at times. We have supported Monitoring Officers through challenging times for many years and are very pleased to be able to offer this service now through the LLG’s scheme as well. Our offer combines our employment law, local authority governance and LGPS expertise.”
