LLG's newly elected President, Rachel McKoy, has built a 5-point manifesto with the aim of bringing reform by the end of her tenure in 2024. During her presidency, Rachel will be concentrating on building relationships and making LLG much more visible. Her manifesto is as follows:

  1. Front and Centre: Ensuring our presence as lawyers in local government is visible, celebrated, and relevant as the anchor body in this space. To be realised by being seated at the top table of crucial sector conversations, spurred through our passion, activism, and utilisation of the medium of speaking engagements, lobbying and all forms of media.
  2. Embracing our family: Growing and nurturing our community through collaboration, communication, varied networking opportunities, social events to foster positive growth and well-being.
  3. Future First: Focused investment in our sustainability through practical succession planning, the nurturing, and attracting of junior talent. Curating career pathways, leadership up-skilling, and mentorship opportunities.
  4. Sharing the joy: Encouraging the membership to champion the sector and be contributors to sharing successes, wins, positive stories and best practice on social media, blogs and in the press.
  5. Wide Reach: Galvanising engagement at member, regional and board level. Warmly welcoming and providing the infrastructure to support greater collaboration with our extended stakeholder family. Focusing on in-person events to build deeper relationships.

Rachel said "For the next 12 months, this is the direction we will be taking and LLG are here to support our members and remind you of the part you play in a larger community of like-minded lawyers sharing the same aim"
