Several voluntary positions for non-Council member positions within the Law Society have opened to solicitors. This is an opportunity for local government to be represented and have a voice within the Law Society and members are urged to consider applying.

They are looking for candidates who:

  • Commit to the Law Society’s values

  • Commit to the interests of its members and the public

  • Commit to ensuring equality, diversity, and inclusion

The Law Society represents, promotes and supports solicitors in England and Wales and has over 160,000 members. The Law Society is governed by the Council which consists of Law Society Council members who help to drive the directional strategy of the Law Society. The Council Membership Committee (CMC) sits under the governance structure of the company. The CMC oversees the nature of representation in the Council and advises on recommendations for change. The roles available are a great opportunity for individuals who wish to be elected to Council and to understand how the Council operates.

As a Committee member, you will serve a three-year term which can be extended for up to an additional two terms. Whilst the role is not remunerated, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Please be aware that the deadline for applications is Friday 8 March, 12:00 noon.
