LLG Awards 2026: Celebrating Excellence Across Local Government Legal Services

LLG is delighted to announce the launch of the LLG Awards 2026, an annual celebration dedicated to recognising the outstanding contributions, achievements, and dedication of legal professionals working within local government.

Each year, the LLG Awards highlight those individuals and teams whose work strengthens local authorities, supports communities, and upholds the highest standards of public service. The awards shine a light on excellence in practice, innovation in service delivery, and the unwavering commitment that defines the local government legal profession.

Award Categories for 2026

The categories for this year’s awards reflect the breadth and depth of talent across the sector:

  • Junior Lawyer of the Year
  • Legal Team of the Year
  • Legal Professional of the Year
  • Excellence in Training Award
  • Significant Contribution to Local Government
  • Suki Binjal Rising Star Award

These awards acknowledge both new and established talent, celebrate collective success, and honour those making a lasting impact across the local government landscape.

Nominations Now Open

Applications for the LLG Awards 2026 will open on Tuesday 3rd February 2026 and close on Friday 27th March 2026.

This year, we are pleased to introduce an improved and more accessible nomination process. The updated format includes a simplified form and a convenient file‑upload function, designed to make submitting nominations smoother and more user‑friendly.

We encourage all eligible individuals and teams to take part, and for colleagues to nominate those whose contributions deserve recognition. Help us celebrate the legal professionals who go above and beyond to serve our communities and uphold excellence in local government law.
