Why You Should Attend the LLG Spring Conference

You might have had sight of the front cover of the MJ last week on the subject of reorganisation. We already know that pressure is mounting up on member’s directly affected and the pace of change is swift. But some local authorities (as reported) are not impressed by delays from the government in its responses to interim reorganisation plans. The MJ reports that Hampshire had requested a 2-month extension to its proposal deadline, which was declined, and concerns about effective consultation have been raised by their Leader. But the government obviously has an ambition to get moving and get moving fast. For lawyers, this will mean a large amount of work. This will involve ensuring legal compliance, managing risk, and supporting smooth transitions in governance and service delivery.

It’s a relief that the LLG Spring Conference is right around the corner. Not only will the conference enable knowledge and experience sharing, but it will provide the emotional and resilience support one can only achieve by sitting down with people who know exactly what you’re going through. We’re all in the same boat (or about to be in the not too distant future), which is aptly illustrated by the fact that those arriving on the Thursday will literally be in the same boat, when we enjoy a cruise along Bristol’s waterways kindly sponsored by IKEN after we have enjoyed a buffet and drinks provided by VWV at their offices. In fact, if you arrive early for conference, then IKEN are hosting a meet and greet between 2pm and 5pm at the hotel with refreshments to revive you after your journey. What’s not to love!
