This course is available to trainee solicitors, paralegals, solicitor apprentices and junior lawyers who are LLG members and up to 5 years' PQE at a reduced rate of £75 + VAT. All junior lawyers are entitled to free membership of LLG. Please email bookings@llg.org.uk

This half day course is aimed at local authority officers who are involved in preparing and drafting traffic regulation orders. The course will provide attendees with a solid understanding of permanent, experimental and temporary traffic regulation orders. This will include the legislative framework, drafting and the statutory procedure to make traffic regulation orders. Attendees will look at the role of the traffic authority to help achieve traffic management objectives through restricting, regulating or prohibiting vehicular traffic or pedestrians.

  • Legislation and case law

  • Purpose of a traffic regulation order

  • Drafting and procedures

    • Permanent traffic regulation order

    • Experimental traffic order

  • Temporary traffic orders

    • Special events

    • Emergency notices

  • Challenge and enforcement

Umi is an experienced solicitor who has worked within local government for 17 years. Whilst in local government, her practice included regularly drafting planning and highway agreements, drafting traffic regulation orders, advising at planning and rights of way committees and representing her local authority at public local inquiries. She is now an Associate Solicitor in the planning and infrastructure team at Womble Bond Dickinson.
