We are looking for someone who will be fundamental in meeting the Legal Team’s vision which is to support the Council in acting lawfully and with high standards of governance to achieve its corporate objectives for the local community. We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and is a team player who can contribute to the wider delivery of the Council’s corporate plan. In this role you will support stakeholders by providing specialist legal advice, representation and assistance across a range of planning, property and procurement matters. We are excited about this role and would very much like to welcome you to Broxtowe Borough Council.
We’re looking for an individual who has experience in:
- The ideal candidate will have previous experience within Planning law (drafting planning enforcement notices, planning advice, certificate of lawfulness, planning committees once a month.)
- Experience with commercial property matters such as acquisitions, sales, commercial leases.
- Local government experience is desirable, but we welcome applications from people from all parts of the legal sector.
- The successful candidate will need to be a qualified Solicitor/Barrister/FILEX with a current Practising Certificate.

- Have the ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal with officers internally, and externally with courts, barristers, professional bodies, stakeholders and members of the public is essential.

What you need to know:
A requirement for this role is to attend the Council’s Planning Committee meeting each month.
Successfully shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend a formal interview which may include a test/scenario/exercise in order to determine suitability for the role
