We need a highly motivated barrister or solicitor to play a key role in our litigation team.

You will deal with highly complex and technical National Trading Standards fraud cases, playing a crucial role to protect consumers and safeguard businesses.

You will be required to advise on investigation processes, conduct pre charge advice, act as the reviewing lawyer in prosecution proceedings, and conduct confiscation and POCA proceedings. You will also be required to advise the Council, instruct and consult with Counsel, and provide legal and policy advice to the Council’s Monitoring Officer. You may also be responsible for negotiating settlements and advising the Council on the best course of action in any particular case.

Subject to workload, you may be required to support the Litigation team in their conduct of proceedings in the Tribunals, Magistrates and County Courts.

You will need to have a high degree of creativity and innovation and meticulous attention to detail to deal with the challenging work undertaken by CYC on behalf of National Trading Standards.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established Litigation team that prides itself in the first-class service it offers.

Our team culture is one which is supportive and engaged. If you are interested in developing and enhancing your existing skills whilst undertaking quality and varied work we'd love to hear from you.

We are keen to hear from you regardless of your sector background if you have a passion for consumer protection and expertise in criminal law.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role.
