Hybrid working based in Newark, Nottinghamshire

Do you want to be part of a welcoming and dedicated team, serving the community and improving lives? You could help Newark & Sherwood District Council to achieve its key strategic objectives, including improving and protecting the local environment, and reducing crime and anti-social behaviour.

The role:

We are looking to recruit a qualified solicitor or Legal Executive in relation to litigation. You will have a diverse caseload and will work on all areas associated with civil and criminal litigation including regulatory enforcement and licensing, housing and anti-social behaviour whilst also providing direction and assistance to other members of the team.

The benefits we offer:

• Enrolment in the local government pension scheme

• A generous annual leave entitlement starting at 26 days pro rata and increasing to 36 days with service

• Free car parking*

• A whole host of family-friendly benefits

• Flexi-time

• Hybrid working

• 1 days’ paid volunteering leave

• A health cashback plan

• A lifestyle benefits platform including retail discounts, cycle to work scheme and car benefits

• £10/month membership at one of our four gyms in the district.

Whilst this is being advertised as a full-time role, we would welcome applications to undertake the role on a part-time or job share basis as the civil and criminal elements of the work can be divided. Excellent home-working arrangements are well established with a weekly team day in the office to support hybrid working.

What we are looking for in candidates:

The successful candidate will have a flexible, positive, ‘can do’ approach; you will be a lawyer who enjoys finding solutions to problems. You will be available for attendance at court and committee meetings.
