We kick-start 2026 with our Monitoring Officer Induction Programme on the 8th. This is tailored specifically to the needs of MOs and DMOs and comprises a comprehensive blend of live and pre-recorded training sessions to prepare you for this challenging role. Our January date is fully booked; however, April is available for bookings. Click here to find out more or email bookings@llg.org.uk

Online – Planning Committees, on the 15th, will provide delegates with a solid understanding of planning committees and decisions made by local authorities. This course is suitable for anyone who needs to understand the key aspects of planning committees including lawyers, planners and committee officers. 

On the 20th we have Online – Political Awareness: How to Operate Effectively at the Interface with Elected Members. This will cover everything you need to know about working at the political interface, enabling you to properly understand the political dynamics of local government, be confident with the governance framework, and develop the personal skills needed for success.

Online – Equal Pay, on the 27th, is designed to provide an understanding of equal pay law, the potential areas of challenge in terms of claims and liability, and the practical steps that can be taken to mitigate the risks of equal pay claims arising in this context.

On the 30th Online – Navigating Freedom of Information Law, will provide delegates with a solid introduction to the complex area of freedom of information law. Perfect for those who are new to dealing with freedom of information and information management, as well as those who have some limited experience or are in need of a refresher.

We begin with our Online – Elections Conference, on the 6th of February, focusing on the collaboration of local government professionals to explore the key challenges, developments, and lessons shaping election law and practice in 2026 and beyond.

Then, we have our Online – Adult Social Care Conference, on the 6th of March, a full day of learning with focused sessions allowing for thought-provoking discussion, practical takeaways and the opportunity to connect with colleagues across the country.

This is followed swiftly by our Online – Leadership Conference 2026 on the 27th of March, which will explore what effective leadership looks like in modern local government; from building resilience and fostering inclusive teams to navigating governance challenges, supporting staff wellbeing, and driving innovation in times of change.

LLG’s Online – Housing Law Conference, on the 1st of May, will bring together housing lawyers, local authority officers, and other housing professionals to explore the most pressing legal and operational issues affecting housing.

Our annual Online – Planning Conference 2026 will take place on the 18th of September, focusing on major legislative changes, case law developments, and policy reforms that are shaping the future of planning practice, with sessions designed specifically for local authority planning lawyers, officers, and professionals working in planning teams.

On the 9th of October we have our annual Online – Commercial Law Conference. This is designed for local government lawyers and professionals working across all areas of commercial law within the public sector.
